Intel Extreme Masters to return to Taipei with a $50,000 CS:GO tournament

We are thrilled to announce that Intel Extreme Masters will once again return to Taipei to bring the event’s last stop in Season 10 before the World Championship in Katowice, Poland!

Intel Extreme Masters Taipei at Taipei Game Show will take place from the 29th of January to the 2nd of February 2016 and will be an official Valve regional minor championship – a CS:GO tournament with a US$50,000 prize pool where eight top teams from Southeast Asia and Australia to battle it out for their share of the prize pool and an invitation to the offline qualifier for the next Valve major.

In order to be eligible to participate, players must be citizens of a country in the Southeast Asian and Australian region, plus no team members can have been Legends or Challengers in previous CS:GO major championships.

The upcoming event will mark the return of Intel Extreme Masters Counter-Strike to Taipei, with a CS 1.6 tournament having taken place during the Intel Extreme Masters Asian Championship in 2010. We are looking forward to seeing some of the best Counter-Strike teams in the region compete under the Intel Extreme Masters banner once more!

“With Intel Extreme Masters, we’ve taken Counter-Strike competition to Chengdu, Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai and Guangzhou. We’re no stranger to Asian and South Pacific teams and with Season 10 marking the comeback of Counter-Strike, there’s no better way to honour where we came from than with a return to our Intel Extreme Masters Counter-Strike roots,” said Michal Blicharz, VP Pro Gaming at ESL. “This is the kind of competition we started out with back in seasons two and three. Now, there’s a lot of North American and European Counter-Strike available, but I’d like to see what these regional teams bring to the table in Taipei.”

We have more exciting things planned for Intel Extreme Masters Taipei at Taipei Game Show so be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay on top of all important updates!
