Did you hear? Blizzard is organising its own World Cup, featuring the best players from throughout the world as they compete for their country in much the same way that football players forgo their teams for the glory of their country.
Though pro players are involved here, too, many players were voted for by the community of Overwatch players to decide who should play for their country.
Well those votes have been tallied, and the rosters have been formed. Now that’s been done, Blizzard has revealed the rosters for each country – and there are a lot taking part – so maybe it’s time you checked out your favourite teams.
We won’t post them all here, but you can check on your country over on Blizzard’s Overwatch World Cup page.
The Overwatch World Cup takes place during this year’s BlizzCon, but there’s no mention of whether that’s just the knockout stage or the entire tournament. With so many teams to get through, a qualifying round and group stage is a necessity… and couldn’t possibly all take place at BlizzCon.
