Immortals Expands Its eSports Reach

By Ginx ESPORTS TV

Two recent announcements from Immortals suggests the organisation is looking to further its grasp on the eSports world by adding two new rosters to its lineup.

The first was for Overwatch, with the team revealing that it is entering the burgeoning eSport by acquiring Sodipop – one of the top teams playing competitive Overwatch.

This team will be spending two weeks at Immortals head quarters in Santa Monica, says the announcement, to train together before moving on to the ELeague finals later this month.

Immortals adds that the support of a professional manager and coach will help the team that was Sodipop quickly grow in performance and – ultimately – the ranks of Overwatch eSports.

The new Immortals Overwatch squad is:
DPS: Christopher “Grimreality” Schaefer
DPS/Flex: Brady “Agilities” Girardi
Support: Athen “Aythen” Zhu
Support/Flex: Jeremy “Jer” SantaCruz
Flex: George “Hyped” Maganzini
Tank: David “Nomy” Ramirez
Coach: Morgan “Kurjun” Daine Pasilis

In addition to this, Immortals then announced that it will be moving into the world of FGC eSports. What is a surprise is that, instead of targeting Street Fighter 5 or even Mortal Kombat X, the organisation is in fact entering the world of Super Smash Bros.

It has brought Jason “ANTi” Bates into its roster, praising Smash 4’s “vibrant community and unparalleled fan support”. ANTi is a top-tier Smash competitor, but Immortals CEO Noah Whinston claims it is his showmanship and respect for his fans that makes him a good fit for the org.

ANTi will be playing his next match at Abadango Saga on 24 September 2016.

Historically Immortals made a name for itself as a League Of Legends competitor after forming in 2015, but it recently expanded into CS:GO with its acquisition of Brazilian squad Tempo Storm.

With such a quick rate of expansion, it’s clear that Immortals is looking to become a permanent fixture in the world of eSports. And it’s doing a fine job of it so far.
