Collegiate StarLeague working with Riot Games to present the ‘2017 uLoL Campus Series’

The Collegiate StarLeague (CSL) has signed an exclusive partnership with Riot Games, the game publisher of League of Legends, to present the ‘2017 uLoL Campus Series.’  The terms of the partnership will see CSL working as the engine running the tournaments, overseeing critical logistics like registration, scheduling, qualification, production and broadcasting the upcoming season.  Fans will be thrilled to learn that CSL will ramp-up broadcasting to a minimum of six matches weekly and provide additional content including in-depth game previews and analysis, player interviews and more throughout the season.

“We’ve worked closely with Riot Games for the past few seasons and   it’s been by far CSL’s most popular title.  By creating this partnership, CSL and Riot are bringing together our expertise and relationships to push collegiate eSports to the forefront of peoples’ minds.  Our programming and content will engage hardcore and casual fans alike,” says Duran Parsi, CEO of the Collegiate StarLeague.

The uLoL Campus Series is coming out of an incredibly exciting season that culminated with the University of British Columbia being crowned champion in April 2016 at PAX EAST, held in Boston.  Registration opens October 15, 2016, for the new season which kicks-off January 14, 2017.

The league will be formatted to include a round-robin group stage with qualifiers moving onto the play-off bracket and then to the live Campus Series finals.  Teams will be divided into four divisions – north, south, east and west – and include club or varsity teams.  Schools are permitted one team to participate in the Campus Series.

“This is a really exciting day for CSL.  When we started as a student-run organization in 2009 we always wanted to provide the best gaming experience for students on campus and this deal with Riot shows their commitment to doing the same,” continued Duran.

Collegiate StarLeague, a division of WorldGaming, is the world’s largest collegiate gaming league.  Since 2009, it has awarded over $300,000 in scholarship money to student gamers from around the world.  It has over 20,000 registered players across 600 registered schools.
