Madden Ultimate League Week 5 – 5 Things to Watch

Matt Franciscovich, Madden Ultimate League

The NFL Combine is this weekend, but let’s be honest – watching potential pro football prospects run boring drills in shorts is like watching paint dry and you’ll only be left feeling empty inside. What’s missing is that competitive nature of the game you crave every weekend during the NFL season. Well, you can effortlessly fill that void by tuning into Week 5 of the Madden Ultimate League (MUL), which is in the heart of its inaugural season. The best professional Madden 18 competitors in the world go head-to-head every Saturday, and if you missed last week’s action, catch up here. With that said, below is a quick preview of some storylines to keep track of in Week 5 MUL gameplay.

5 THINGS TO WATCH FOR – WEEK 5

Can Drini “Drini” Gjoka stay hot?

Drini was the only MUL competitor to win all of his Week 4 contests, and he’ll look to keep rolling with games against Kent “Dot City K-Aus” Auslander and Trae “Tweez” Bapes this week. The 18-year-old is a Madden Championship Series rookie, and already has one Championship Belt from a first-place finish at the Madden 18 Challenge, so his Week 5 contests are worth tracking closely.

Will Eli “Trueboy” Clayton get revenge on Chris “Dubby” McFarland in a Week 2 rematch?

Back in Week 2, Trueboy let Dubby run all over him with NFL Playoffs Elite RB Derrick Henry. Dubby scored two long rushing touchdowns in the match with Henry – a 52-yarder in the first quarter and a 23-yarder in the fourth to essentially seal the win. The two MUL competitors face each other again this week as Trueboy attempts to put an end to Dubby’s run-game dominance.

Can Raidel “Echo Fox Joke” Brito bounce back?

The 24-year-old competitor started the MUL season hot with three straight wins but has since lost three of his last four contests, including two defeats in Week 4 in which he scored a combined 18 total points. Echo Fox Joke only has one matchup this week, against Tweez, in which he’ll look to build upon his 4-3 record in Legend Conference gameplay (currently, he’s tied for the Division A lead with Drini).

Can Jahmal “Musafa” Jones go undefeated against Eric “Problem” Wright in a Week 3 rematch?

Musafa Jones beat Problem by a score of 28-13 back in Week 3, and the two go head-to-head once again in Week 5. Problem currently ranks first in Legend Conference Division B with a 4-2 record. The veteran will surely be seeking payback after he threw a devastating interception late in the third quarter against Musafa Jones in their Week 3 contest.

Will Dot City K-Aus make a comeback?

In Week 4, Dot City K-Aus went 1-1 in his contests. He was shut out 12-0 by Musafa Jones in his first game but followed up with a shocking 27-13 upset over Problem for his first MUL win of the season. It’ll be a tall order for the 22-year-old Herndon, VA native to keep that momentum going as he faces Dubby and Drini, both of whom already own Madden Championship Series belts from previous tournament wins.
