This Week In Project CARS: The ACR League Hoons at Hockenheim

Project CARS

The action restarted in the Project CARS 2 ACR League at the technical turns of the modern Hockenheim circuit in Germany. With Actrollvision now having recovered after losing his voice last week, he was back on fine form to cast the latest races in the GT5, GT4 and GT3 competitions.

The GT5 class kicked things off on Hockenheim’s Short Circuit. Would AnderAntell extend his championship lead, or would one of the newcomers spring a surprise? In qualifying it was Ashjw98, a previous GT5 season champion, who took pole. AndersAntell could only manage third, with Bbajaga in second.

Anderantell made a fantastic start in the race as he rose to the challenge, and by turn one he was in the lead. Ashjw98 dropped by down to fourth spot with a stinker of a getaway. Babajaga held second with Lancerevoo third, and that was how it finished, but it wasn’t the whole story. The exit curb at turn 1 played a big part in this race, with Phatmatt, Knightcrower and Saikinto all caught out there to name just a few. After a turn two error left YorkyPud in last on lap one he managed a heck of a recovery drive to climb back up to fifth. Finally, a big shoutout to Andersantell who has earned an early promotion to the GT4 league after his recent unstoppable form. Phatmatt was the Driver of the Day. Next on the cards were the GT4 drivers, on the slightly longer Hockenheim National layout. Unsurprisingly man of the moment Ginger_Ferrett took pole, with Thecrusherbro in second and DJKrick in third. The lights went green, and out of nowhere, Valeboss from 5th on the grid challenged Ginger_Ferrett for the lead, but Ginger held on. It was now up to DJ, Thecrusherbro, Valeboss94 and Bafrage to duke it out for second as Ginger pulled away and disappeared out of sight. Thecrusherbro made a mistake on lap six which ended his charge for a podium, and with DJKrick clear in second it was all about Vale and Bafrage. They swapped positions four times before Bafrage finally took the podium spot. Driver of the Day was Ginger_Ferrett, who has also earned an early promotion into the GT3 class for the next round.

Finally it was time for the GT3 race on Hockenheim’s famous GP layout. Championship leader, ACR_Robinjus had the best start possible as he claimed a hard-fought pole position, just ahead of Blankfile and AlexX2121 in second and third respectively. Xwolf1369 did a fantastic job to qualify his Acura NSX GT3 in fifth place, but it was a poor qualifying session for reigning champion hansfan who started in eighth. It was a cracking race, Blankfile got a phenomenal launch in the fast-starting Porsche, but Robinjus held his nerve around the outside of turn one, and this turned out to be the race winning move. It was then left to Blankfile, Alex and Hansfan to fight it out for second after Hansfan’s incredible opening laps saw him climb up to fourth. Alex held on for 20 minutes, but a mistake left Blankfile and Hansfan to battle it out for the remainder of the race. A couple of position swaps and some bumper-to-bumper battles, Blankfile held on for second and Hansfan finished third. The Driver of the Day was KC Sim Racing’s Blankfile. Finally, a shout out to Rienko who is sadly dropping out of the league due to other personal commitments. ACR hopes to see him back soon.
