Multiplay, organiser of the UK’s largest gaming festival, Insomnia, and subsidiary of GAME Digital plc (“GAME Digital”), the UK’s leading video gaming specialist, is delighted to announce the initial set of gaming tournaments to take place during the Easter bank holiday weekend at Insomnia57, NEC Birmingham, March 25-28, 2016.
Street Fighter V is a newcomer to Insomnia, with the tournament taking place on the Sunday; it provides the opportunity for anyone attending Insomnia57 to participate with any gaming skill level. The fighting fun game will feature 4 winners from community events, where each winner will receive a ticket to Insomnia57 to participate in the finals, with a chance to win a share of the £1,000 prize pool.
“Looking to be our biggest Easter Insomnia yet, we consistently look at ways to expand from the most recent event” said Andy Smith, Director of The Insomnia Gaming Festival. “Insomnia provides an incredible gaming experience and there’s no more compelling way than the competitive tournaments taking place throughout the festival. The addition of Street Fighter V to Insomnia57’s eSports roster opens up opportunities to the Fighting Game Community as well as anyone attending on the Sunday. By giving visitors the chance to show how talented they are in the arena, we look to show that eSports can be enjoyed by anybody.”
Attendees of Insomnia57 on the Sunday can also get involved in the Street Fighter V tournament. A double elimination competition will take place, in which 4 winners go through to the finals to join the 4 community events winners in a one-versus-one double elimination contest.
Insomnia57 will host a number of tournaments with respective prize pools for each of the competitions such as Dota 2 (£5,000), League of Legends (£5,000), Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (£5,000) and Rocket League (£3,000). “We’re pleased to once again return with much loved gaming tournaments as well as newcomer Street Fighter V,” said Craig Fletcher, Founder and CEO of Multiplay. “We offer eSports for all levels of competition with compelling gameplay, live audiences and online viewers can witness professional and amateur players battling it out for the chance to be crowned champion. Make sure to check our tournaments pages in the near future, as this is just the beginning.”
Visitors in the Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) LAN halls can also look forward to participating in tournaments for big prize pools, as well as enjoying stage shows, evening activities, live music and more. The BYOC experience is in an inclusive, safe, and fun gaming-focused environment for friends and family.
