Three more StarCraft® II players have qualified for Intel Extreme Masters Shanghai

The next batch of regional StarCraft II qualifiers for Intel Extreme Masters Shanghai took place last weekend. Check out who qualified from China and Taiwan.

On a hard-fought weekend in the China and Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau StarCraft II qualifiers, the next three players managed to secure their tickets to Chinajoy 2016, where Intel Extreme Masters Shanghai will take place from July 28th-31st. They join PtitDrogo, Snute, Neeb, PiLiPiLi and EnDerr from Europe/Africa/Middle East, Oceania/Southeast Asia/Japan and North America, leaving Latin America as the last to-be-determined region before the we move on to the open server qualifiers to round out the remaining spots.

China

Looking at the Chinese qualifier, iAsonu, Jim and XiGua may have originally stood out as favorites to take the two spots that are awarded to the home nation, but it would be a pair of fresh faces that prevailed and will now get the chance to prove themselves in Shanghai. Finishing the qualifier without dropping a series was long-established Zerg player TooDming. Here are his results:
2-1 vs Cyan
2-1 vs XiGua
2-1 vs iAsonu

Joining him in Shanghai will be his first round opponent, Cyan, who had quite a remarkable run in the lower bracket, having to go through all three favorites to pave his way to Shanghai. The Protoss may be a newcomer in the Chinese scene, but he already qualified for his second Intel Extreme Masters, following his performance in Shenzhen last year. Back then, he was eliminated in the group stage by herO and uThermal, but he’ll get another chance this year in Shanghai. His performance in the bracket looked like this:
1-2 vs TooDming
2-0 vs Jim
2-1 vs XiGua
2-0 vs Jieshi
3-2 vs iAsonu

Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau

Has was the name that stood out in the second qualifier of the weekend and Taiwan’s most successful player did not disappoint. The Protoss however did not have the smoothest of runs, dropping to Nice in a hard-fought PvP in upper bracket finals, only to get revenge for the earlier series in the eventual grand finals where he made quick work of his fellow Protoss, winning 5 maps in a row to secure his spot. Take a look at his results:
2-0 vs GogojOey
2-0 vs Cell
1-2 vs Nice
2-0 vs Rex
2-0/3-0 vs Nice

The action continues on Thursday and Friday!

These latest qualifier results bring us up to eight confirmed players for Shanghai with another eight to go. Now only the Latin American qualifier remain before we move on to open server qualifiers and they will take place from June 2nd to June 3rd. Can big name Kelazhur secure his spot against the local competition? The battle begins at 17:00 BST (22:00 CEST) on both days.
