ESPN announced Friday it will air the Finals of the Street Fighter V World Championship during the Evolution Championship Series in Las Vegas. The event takes place July 15-17, with the Finals wrapping on July 17.
The event will air on ESPN2, as well as streaming service WatchESPN.
The Evolution Championship Series — best known to fans as Evo — features a series of championships based on fighting games, where two players go head-to-head in a series of brawls. Along with Street Fighter V, other games including Mortal Kombat X, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom will be featured. Founded in 1996, it’s one of the earliest competitive video gaming tournaments launched.
“ESPN brings us an amazing opportunity to showcase the fighting game community competing at its highest level,” said Evo CEO Joey Cuellar in a statement.
