These are the qualification methods for teams that will be invited to compete at IEM Oakland, IEM Gyeonggi, and IEM Katowice!
We recently announced the Intel Extreme Masters Season 11 format for League of Legends. Of course the question on everyone’s mind is: which teams will be competing? We are excited to share the methods through which teams can qualify to compete in League of Legends happening at global stadiums throughout IEM Season 11, starting with Oakland in November.
IEM Oakland: November 19-20
Two of the best teams from the North American LCS will be invited to represent their region at the Oracle Arena.
Teams will earn invites to Oakland based on their Summer split standings:
NA – #1 and #3 teams from the NALCS summer split
EU – #2 team from the EULCS summer split
China – #1 team from the LPL summer split
LMS – #1 team from the LMS summer split
Korea – TBD
International Wildcard – #1 and # 2 in Qualifiers*
Teams who earn an invite to Katowice will then be replaced with the next highest-ranking team from their region’s Summer split.
IEM Gyeonggi: December 16-18
Two of Korea’s best teams will be invited to prove their mettle on home turf at the Goyang Sports Complex.
Teams will earn invites based on their Summer split standings as follows:
NA – #2 team from the NALCS summer split
EU – #1 team from the EULCS summer split
China – #2 team from the LPL summer split
LMS – #2 team from the LMS summer split
Korea – #1 team from the LCK summer split
Korea – TBD
International Wildcard – #1 and # 2 in Qualifiers*
Teams who earn an invite to Katowice will then be replaced with the next highest-ranking team from their region’s Summer split.
*Eight International Wildcard regions will compete for the four available IWC slots through two separate Qualifiers to determine who will advance to the two slots at IEM Oakland and two slots at IEM Gyeonggi. The regions competing for the slots at Oakland will be from Latin America North, Latin America South, Brazil, and Oceania. The teams competing for IEM Gyeonggi will be from Turkey, Southeast Asia, Japan, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The highest ranking team from each region will be invited to their respective offline qualifier
Four teams will compete in a qualifier for IEM Oakland, and four teams will compete in a qualifier for IEM Gyeonggi.

IEM Katowice: 2017
Three ways to secure an invite to the crowning event at the Spodek Arena in Katowice:
Achieve Top 8 at Worlds as the top performing team from your region (max one per region. If tied, Summer Ranking will be used)
Qualify through IEM Oakland
Qualify through IEM Gyeonggi
Any teams who qualify directly to IEM Katowice from Worlds will be exempt from invites to Oakland and Gyeonggi.
