Collegiate StarLeague Opens Registration For Epic 2016-2017 Season

Students Compete For Over $175,000 In Scholarships And Prizes

Let the games begin! Today Collegiate StarLeague (CSL) opened registration for the 2016-2017 season in what is anticipated to be the largest tournament circuit ever hosted in collegiate eSports.

Throughout the season, university and college teams will compete for a spot in the live final event in May and over $175,000 in scholarships and prizes – the biggest pot yet. This year’s games include Dota 2, League of Legends, Starcraft 2, CounterStrike: Global Offensive and Vainglory.

“Collegiate StarLeague brings together university and college eSports athletes from across North America to share their competitive passion for gaming,” said Duran Parsi, CEO, Collegiate StarLeague. “With the rapid growth of the collegiate eSports scene and our largest prize pot in league history, we expect the 2016-17 season to be one for the record books.”

Registration opens September 1 and runs until September 31, 2016 on www.cstarleague.com . Students are encouraged to recruit their team and register early to guarantee a spot in the league. The first game of the season kicks off for all titles on October 8, 2016.

Last year, the 2015-2016 season culminated with CSL’s Grand Finals hosted live at ‘DreamHack Austin 2016’, featuring fourteen teams, two live streams and over 100 broadcast hours. The winning teams were as follows:

· League of Legends: Mayville University (Scholarship awarded: $15,000)
· DOTA 2: University of British Columbia (Scholarship awarded: $15,000)
· StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void: University of California, Berkeley (Scholarship awarded: $10,000)
· HearthStone: Heroes of Warcraft: University of British Columbia (Scholarship awarded: $10,000)
· Counter Strike: Global Offensive: San Jose State University (Scholarship awarded: $5,000)

Collegiate StarLeague, a division of WorldGaming, is the world’s largest collegiate gaming league. Since 2009, it has awarded over $300,000 in scholarship money to student gamers from around the world, with 17,000 registered players across 600 registered schools.
