WINNERS OF THE RED BULL 5G NORTH REGIONAL HEAT REVEALED

The Red Bull 5G North regional heat welcomed a host of new gaming talent to the UK at this weekend’s PLAY Expo in Manchester.

Over the weekend the top players and teams from the Red Bull 5G open qualifiers battled it out for a spot at the national final and a chance to represent their region. Amateur players attended PLAY Expo, the biggest video games event in the North of England to compete in Hearthstone, League of Legends, Project CARS, Rocket League and Street Fighter V.

Amongst the finalists was  Thomas “Prosfair” Willis, from League of Legends team PerilousVOID: “We managed to get the Champions and draft we wanted which meant we closed out easily to get the lead this time around. We’re looking forward to the finals. We’ve seen a lot of good players from the South but we plan on delivering a good game regardless if we win or lose.”

Winners of the Red Bull 5G North regional heat include:

Luke “UndueBow” Hobbs and Timoth “DJ-Purenoise” Pateman for Project CARS
DC “Infexious” Colman for Street Fight V
Constantinos “SuperNinja” Evdokimou for Hearthstone
Rocket League’s Team Weamus
And League of Legend’s team PerilousVOID

Inspired by traditional 5 vs 5 martial arts tournaments, the classic rivalry between East and West, and a growing culture of competitive gaming, Red Bull 5G was created in Japan in 2012. With the growing eSports scene and the classic North/South divide in the UK, Red Bull 5G ignites an age old rivalry as players represent their region in one of five world renowned games at a national final.

The South regional heat will take place at MCM ComicCon in London on 29th and 30th October with the live finals taking place in Birmingham on 20th November. The winning players in each game will win a trip to Red Bull 5G in Japan this December.
