TSM has announced that one of Hearthstone’s more recognisable names, Julien ‘Cydonia’ Perrault-Harvey, has been signed to the esports organisation, marking it as the first pro player for the game to be signed into its roster.
“I am ecstatic to be joining TSM and I look forward to build on my successes of last year and to keep performing in tournaments and on ladder.” says Cydonia in the announcement. “I will also maintain a bigger presence in the community by attending offline events and streaming regularly under the TSM banner.”
Those successes he’s talking of are Cydonia’s first-place victory at 2016’s Spring Hearthstone Championship tour, which earned him a place in the World Championship at Blizzcon. There he placed 5-8th, a commendable effort for anyone.
To date he’s earned roughly $80,000, $75,000 of which was from his results in both official Hearthstone events last year. TSM clearly have a rising star on their hands, opting for a pro Hearthstone player this time rather than reputed YouTube and Twitch stars, as was the case with their previous hires for the card game.
He will join TSM as part of its competitive roster, focusing on playing professionally – however he will be streaming regularly under the TSM brand, and involving himself in its community more directly.
