Official Brawlhalla Tournament Series Begins, Leads Up to $50,000 World Championship

The Brawlhalla Championship Series began June 18th, kicking off 21 weeks of online tournaments leading up to the Brawlhalla Championship Expo taking place Nov. 11-13 where a $50,000 prize pool is at stake.

The Brawlhalla Championship Series is the first sanctioned tournament series backed by Brawlhalla developer Blue Mammoth Games. The BCS includes 1v1 and 2v2 online tournaments in the US and EU with $14,000 in prizes throughout. The BCS also includes regional online tournaments for players on the Australian, Brazilian, and Southeast Asian servers.

The BCS includes both 1v1 and 2v2 tournaments, marking Brawlhalla as one of the only games to run multiple game formats as official competitive modes. “Twenty-five percent of all our ranked players play on the 2v2 ladder exclusively,” said David Kisich, Brawlhalla’s eSports director, “We’re incredibly excited to be running both game modes in the BCS.”

“We designed Brawlhalla to support competitive play,” said Matt Woomer, creative director at Blue Mammoth. “But one day you look up and there are tournaments streaming every weekend, videos coming out of high level play, LAN tournaments, FGC tournaments, prize money, clans, and even sponsors. In June over a hundred thousand players were active in the ranked queues. So we asked ourselves and the community, ‘What can we do to support and encourage all that effort?’ This official tournament series and the world championship is a big part of the answer.”

The BCS is the buildup to the first annual Brawlhalla Championship Expo (BCX) November 11-13 at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, Georgia. The centerpieces of BCX are the open-entry 1v1 and 2v2 World Championship Tournaments with a combined prize pool of over $50,000. In addition the Expo will also have talks, mini-tournaments, prizes, swag, hang-outs, devs, cosplay, cupcakes, top players, streamers, and more.
