{"id":1212,"date":"2016-09-28T15:37:53","date_gmt":"2016-09-28T15:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gamegnome.com\/esports\/?p=1212"},"modified":"2016-09-28T15:37:53","modified_gmt":"2016-09-28T15:37:53","slug":"collegiate-starleague-working-riot-games-present-2017-ulol-campus-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gamegnome.com\/esports\/2016\/09\/28\/collegiate-starleague-working-riot-games-present-2017-ulol-campus-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Collegiate StarLeague working with Riot Games to present the \u20182017 uLoL Campus Series\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Collegiate StarLeague (CSL) has signed an exclusive partnership with Riot Games, the game publisher of League of Legends, to present the \u20182017 uLoL Campus Series.\u2019 \u00a0The terms of the partnership will see CSL working as the engine running the tournaments, overseeing critical logistics like registration, scheduling, qualification, production and broadcasting the upcoming season. \u00a0Fans will be thrilled to learn that CSL will ramp-up broadcasting to a minimum of six matches weekly and provide additional content including in-depth game previews and analysis, player interviews and more throughout the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve worked closely with Riot Games for the past few seasons and \u00a0\u00a0it\u2019s been by far CSL\u2019s most popular title. \u00a0By creating this partnership, CSL and Riot are bringing together our expertise and relationships to push collegiate eSports to the forefront of peoples\u2019 minds.\u00a0 Our programming and content will engage hardcore and casual fans alike,\u201d says Duran Parsi, CEO of the Collegiate StarLeague.<\/p>\n<p>The uLoL Campus Series is coming out of an incredibly exciting season that culminated with the University of British Columbia being crowned champion in April 2016 at PAX EAST, held in Boston. \u00a0Registration opens October 15, 2016, for the new season which kicks-off January 14, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The league will be formatted to include a round-robin group stage with qualifiers moving onto the play-off bracket and then to the live Campus Series finals.\u00a0 Teams will be divided into four divisions \u2013 north, south, east and west \u2013 and include club or varsity teams. \u00a0Schools are permitted one team to participate in the Campus Series.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a really exciting day for CSL.\u00a0 When we started as a student-run organization in 2009 we always wanted to provide the best gaming experience for students on campus and this deal with Riot shows their commitment to doing the same,\u201d continued Duran.<\/p>\n<p>Collegiate StarLeague, a division of WorldGaming, is the world\u2019s largest collegiate gaming league. \u00a0Since 2009, it has awarded over $300,000 in scholarship money to student gamers from around the world. \u00a0It has over 20,000 registered players across 600 registered schools. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Collegiate StarLeague (CSL) has signed an exclusive partnership with Riot Games, the game publisher of League of Legends, to present the \u20182017 uLoL Campus Series.\u2019 \u00a0The terms of the partnership will see CSL working as the engine running the tournaments, overseeing critical logistics like registration, scheduling, qualification, production and broadcasting the upcoming season. \u00a0Fans &hellip;
