Daniel Fiden of FunPlus Ventures is leading the investment, which includes 21 members in total.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022Tesla directors Antonio Gracias and Kimbal Musk
\n\u2022Cleveland Cavs Basketball player Andrew Bogut<\/p>\n

Now, the obvious move is to invest in an esports franchise and I\u2019m thrilled it\u2019s Cloud9,\u201d said Alexis Ohanian. \u201cJack Etienne has done an impressive job building a world class organization. He\u2019s thinking long-term, regularly engaging with his fanbase, and continuing to lead Cloud9 toward a bright future.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cCloud9 is a fantastic organization that has shown throughout the years that it has what it takes to continuously contend for championships in multiple esports titles,\u201d said Joe Montana.<\/p>\n
The funding indicates that Cloud9 may be looking to battle for a spot in the upcoming Overwatch League, which has been reportedly valued at upwards of $30 million for a spot.
