On Thursday, the 2nd of June, FC Schalke 04 will play their first match in the Champions League of Esports. The first matchday of the European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS) will be starting at 5 p.m. CEST. Every match will also be streamed live on LOL eSports<\/a>, the official website for the LCS.<\/p>\n

The kick-off for Schalke will be at 7 p.m. CEST, when Berk \u201cGilius\u201d Demir and his teammates will face \u201cUnicorns of Love\u201d. During their last encounter in the previous season\u2019s eighth week, Demir’s team soundly defeated the Unicorns. A success that FC Schalke 04 aims to repeat on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Schalke League of Legends team will also have to prove themselves on Friday. At 9 p.m. CEST their match against \u201cH2k-Gaming\u201d, last season\u2019s runner-up, will take place. Winning against one of the series favorites would result in an excellent position for Schalke right from the beginning of the Summer Split.
\nDuring the regular Summer Split, which lasts about nine weeks, ten teams will play against each other. The Top 6 teams qualify for the Playoffs \u2013 which is also the primary goal for the team from Germany.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe massive amount of support and media-attention that closely followed the first steps of our journey, was really encouraging. But now it is our task to deliver good results. Since the announcement it has been our goal to reach the Playoffs at the end of the Summer Split and we will do everything in our power to reach that goal.\u201d says Tim Reichert, Head of Esports at FC Schalke 04.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that we will be able to deliver quite a surprise to H2k-Gaming on Friday. We trained very hard during the mid-season. I especially prepared for facing H2k’s Jungler \u201cJankos\u201d and I am sure, that already during the second week of the LCS, no one will make the mistake of underestimating us.\u201d \u2013 Berk \u201cGilius\u201d Demir, Jungler at FC Schalke 04 in League of Legends.<\/p>\n

“We are very confident about the match against H2k. After all, we have one advantage many other teams don\u2019t have: Our team doesn\u2019t need to focus on developing synergy anymore, because we are already acting as one unit. In League of Legends this is at least as important as a squad full of superstars.
