The ESL Hearthstone Trinity Series is back with Season 2

Trinity Series is back! Season 2 of the Hearthstone® team league, featuring Blizzard Entertainment’s internationally acclaimed digital card game, and presented by ESL and Intel®, kicks off this September 27th and will once again feature seven weeks of online play followed by a playoff finals for the top four teams.

Eight teams will be invited to participate, each fielding a roster of three players. Teams will once again have open verbal communication with one another throughout their matches, allowing them to discuss and deliberate every in-game decision as a group, and giving viewers the chance to listen-in to the teams during each crucial decision.

The Trinity Series will once again award $150,000 USD in prize money, with $75,000 awarded to the first place team. In Season 1, it was the compLexity Gaming roster that took home the lion’s share of the prize pool with their first place finish, with Luminosity close behind.

Season 2 will continue the best-of-11 “Last Hero Standing” format, where players play with a particular deck until they lose a game with it. Teams will submit nine decks for each match (one from each class), and then ban two of the opposing team’s decks from play. The teams will then pilot six of their remaining seven classes for the duration of the match, until one team has earned six wins and is crowned the match victor.

“After the success and fun of Season 1 we can’t wait to get started on Season 2 of Trinity Series” said Doug “Gloudas” Wreden, Producer at ESL. “We feel the match format and team listen-ins offer something truly exciting to the Hearthstone community, and we hope to bring that two-fold with the second season.”

The first two participating teams will be G2 Esports  and compLexity Gaming, both returning for their second Trinity Series season!
