Who will secure their tickets to the PUBG Invitational at IEM Katowice?

IEM World Championship

The final stages of the qualifiers are going down this weekend and six teams from three regions will book their flights to Poland afterwards.

After its first appearance at an IEM circuit in Oakland, the PUBG Invitational heads for the IEM World Championship Katowice on February 24-25 2018. 16 squads of four players need to bring their team chemistry, strategies, and aiming to a level of perfection in order to take the major share of the US$50,000 prize pool.

Whilst six teams from Europe and North America already have a direct invite to the main event, others still have to fight their way through the qualifiers this weekend. We’re taking a quick look at all of the upcoming action on Saturday and Sunday.

European open qualifiers

With over 1,100 signups, the European qualifier was one of the biggest in the history of ESL Play. In the run through the open qualifiers a few well-known teams were found to participate. Ninjas in Pyjamas, G2 Esports, Avangar, Dignitas, BIG, Crimson esports and Tiger Mafia have all easily secured their tickets to round 2 on Saturday and are going in as heavy favorites to make it into the closed qualifiers on Sunday at 5pm CET where they meet eight pre-invited teams to fight for the three remaining tickets to Katowice.

North American open qualifiers

Just like in EU, NA has some top tier teams fighting their way through open qualifiers. Evil Geniuses, Noble Gaming, Luminosity Gaming, Spacestation, and Gale Force made it successfully through round 1 and are only two more rounds away from the closed qualification.

South American open qualifiers

The South American region has surprised everyone with incredible interest in the PUBG Invitational at IEM Katowice qualifiers. More than 720 teams signed up in the region, willing to give their best to secure the one ticket there is for Katowice. It’s going to be the first international PUBG event in which a South American team partakes. Thus, everyone can be super excited to see what they bring to the table and to what extent their play style differs from the other regions.
