CD PROJEKT RED, creators of The Witcher series of games, would like to invite gamers and esports enthusiasts to watch this weekend’s April 2018 GWENT Challenger tournament. The event will take place April 28-29, 2018 in “Wieliczka” Salt Mine, Poland.
April 2018 Challenger is the next in the series of official The Witcher Card Game tournaments. This time, the event is heading deep underground, to the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine — one of the most valuable monuments of culture in Poland, featured on UNESCO’s World Cultural and Natural Heritage List — where 8 of the best GWENT players from around the world will compete for Crown Points and their share of the $100,000 prize pool. In addition, the winner will secure their spot in the grand finale of GWENT’s esports series — GWENT World Masters.
The tournament starts with quarterfinals on Saturday, April 28th. The semifinals, as well as the final showmatch are set for Sunday, April 29th. The matches will be livestreamed on the official CD PROJEKT RED Twitch channel and masters.playgwent.com, with regular updates on the GWENT Masters Twitter.
Hosting the event will be Jesse Cox, joined by GWENT players and streamers: Miguel “MegaMogwai” Guerrero León, Dane “McBeard” McBurnie, Connagh “Merchant” Hawkins and David “ImpetuousPanda” Gil Nolskog. The broadcast team is complete with analysts Sean “Swim” Huguenard and Francesca “Jaggerous” Jagger.
During the event, viewers will be able to earn in-game rewards by watching the tournament. These include Card Kegs, a special player title, as well as the winner’s favorite card. Details on Twitch Drops are available at playgwent.com/twitch-drops.
GWENT Challenger is part of GWENT Masters — the official esports series of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. For the complete overview of GWENT Masters, including the ruleset, tournament dates, and format, visit masters.playgwent.com.
