The Pokémon Trading Card Game Returns to SPIEL 2017

Following the success of Pokémon’s debut at SPIEL in 2016, The Pokémon Company International announced today that it will return this year with a bigger and better presence.

SPIEL, Europe’s largest annual tabletop and board gaming fair, runs from Thursday, October 26th, to Sunday, October 29, 2017, in Essen, Germany. Attendees will be able to visit the Pokémon booth to play different Pokémon TCG tournament formats, meet fellow Pokémon players, and win some great prizes. The Pokémon booth will also host open gaming and learn-to-play events.

The headline event, the SPIEL Cup, will take place on Saturday, October 28th. This event will use the Expanded format, and players will compete for all-important Championship Points, an exclusive trophy, and other cool prizes. All players will receive three Pokémon TCG booster packs just for taking part.
On Sunday, October 29th, Pokémon Professors are invited to participate in a unique tournament – the Professor Cup. Complete with quirky rules and a specially created format, this will be a fun experience designed to thank Professors for all their hard work in helping Play! Pokémon thrive.

Note that some Pokémon TCG events will have an admission fee in addition to the entry cost to SPIEL. Visit the Pokémon booth or www.pokemon.com for more details.
