Indie Arena Booth Online 2020 at gamescom: 185 games

Indie Arena Booth  announced the lineup for Indie Arena Booth Online 2020 at gamescom, taking place August 27-30, 2020. For the first time ever, Indie Arena Booth will be held this year as a multiplayer online event.

With 185 titles from 51 countries, carefully curated by a jury of more than 40 national and international industry experts, Indie Arena Booth Online presents the world’s largest and most varied selection of indie games, embedded in an entertaining online multiplayer event with an attractive live program. Every participating developer and publisher will be able to build their own booth thanks to an innovative and intuitive WYSIWYG booth editor by Super Crowd Entertainment. This will create a colorful and multi-faceted gaming world that is in no way inferior to the diversity and creative range of the physical Indie Arena Booth.

“After a very challenging year so far, we are very happy that the Indie Arena Booth is adapting and continuing to celebrate indie games and bring them to life for the entire community, ” said Wolf Lang, CEO Super Crowd Entertainment GmbH. “Indie Arena Booth Online is a visually stunning multiplayer event in the browser without having to download anything first. Every visitor can immediately explore our digital world!”

“We are incredibly happy and proud that our concept for the Indie Arena Booth Online has been received so positively and eagerly worldwide,” added Valentina Birke, Head of Indie Arena Booth. “And, as every year, we were overwhelmed by the high variety and fantastic quality of the submissions, from which our jury curated an enormously diverse line-up that impressively demonstrates why indie games raises the bar every year when it comes to innovation, storytelling, fun and the courage to come up with unusual ideas”.

Indie Arena Booth Online is a prime example of how Germany is courageously leading the way in the digital event space and demonstrating what can be achieved technically in the shortest possible time without sacrificing creativity. With Indie Arena Booth Online, Super Crowd Entertainment sends a clear signal to the global indie community that its future is in safe hands. Super Crowd is very proud that its new technology for browser-based digital events is being used for the first time at this upcoming digital gamescom.

Long-awaited game highlights and hyped indie insider tips available at your fingertips

Everspace 2 (ROCKFISH Games) and GONNER2 (Art in Heart) are two eagerly awaited sequels to worldwide successes at the Indie Arena Booth Online 2020. The graphically impressive space simulation Everspace 2 was by far the most successful German game to emerge from Kickstarter in 2019, while the procedurally generated platformer GONNER2 is set to continue the success story of its insanely difficult predecessor. The gorgeous Hazel Sky (Coffee Addict Studio) and the atmospheric No Longer Home (Humble Grove) are just two examples of the wide creative radius and the enormously varied storytelling ideas of indie games, while the platformers Pumpkin Jack (Headup), Eastern Exorcist (Wildfire Game) and Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth (Why So Serious?) impressively prove that even long-established genres can set new milestones with their courage to innovate and their perfectly balanced gameplay.

The Riftbreaker (EXOR Studios) is another outstanding example of how indie games are not afraid to break barriers and set new standards across genres; this mixture of real-time strategy like StarCraft and hack-and-slay like Diablo will make worldwide headlines and surf a hypewave straight to the Indie Arena Booth Online 2020.

With exclusive sales events at Steam and GOG.com, numerous indie hits can be purchased at discounted prices, and demos of many games can be downloaded directly. Indie Arena Booth is  also very pleased to welcome Yager – a studio that carries the indie spirit in its DNA and is one of the oldest game studios in Germany, with over 90 employees from more than 20 countries, and several award-winning blockbusters like Spec Ops: The Line under its belt.

After the award-winning hits Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP and Critter Crunch, Capybara Games is continuing its winning streak with Grindstone, described as “a puzzle battle splatter-fest.
