The WCS gets back to business beginning January 26 with WCS Leipzig, the first point-awarding event of the calendar year. The newest stop on the WCS Circuit schedule will feature a $100,000 prize pool and offer the winner a spot at the 2018 WCS Global Finals. It’s barely been a month since Rogue was crownd global champion, but pro StarCraft II competition waits for nobody as WCS Leipzig will quickly lock in the first challenger to his throne.
WCS Leipzig, as part of the DreamHack event in the eastern German city, will host 80 players with four each being invited from North America and Europe. Latin America, China, Australia & New Zealand, and the combined region of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Japan will each have two invites to the tournament. The remaining slots will be filled with players from the European and North American online qualifying tournaments taking place December 15-17. Sign-ups for interested players are now open for NA and EU. For our players from other regions, the WCS Leipzig qualifiers information will be announced soon.
The remainder of the 2018 WCS schedule (including GSL!) will be revealed soon. After Leipzig, look for more of the WCS you love plus a few tweaks including an updated WCS Challenger system and the all-important stop at Katowice for the IEM World Championship.
