HyperX®, the gaming division of Kingston® Technology Company, Inc., is preparing for the upcoming NBA 2K18 season with the newly named Dallas Mavericks Mavs Gaming team. On December 12, the NBA announced the names of all 17 teams including Mavs Gaming. HyperX recently announced they are the official gaming headset of Mavs Gaming, and now the partnership begins as the league prepares for competition to begin in May. The Mavs Gaming team will be comprised of five players who make it through qualifying in January, tryouts in February and chosen through the NBA 2K League draft held in March. As a team, they will be using HyperX gaming headsets while practicing together and during NBA 2K tournament action.
“It’s is an exciting time in the NBA with the NBA 2K league becoming an extension of the Mavericks and bringing a new brand of basketball entertainment to Dallas and to NBA fans around the world,” said Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks. “HyperX has a global gaming fan base and we see the fan base for basketball growing faster than any other professional league and NBA 2K will bring these enthusiastic gaming fans into arenas to watch and experience NBA 2K.”
“I am eager to start working with HyperX and the amazing team that brings years of knowledge and experience to our new NBA 2K League team. With last week’s launch of the #NBA2KLEAGUE brands, we couldn’t be more excited to present Mavs Gaming and get started on the tryout process,” said new Mavs gaming manager Roger Caneda. “HyperX gaming headsets play a valuable part in the training with players, hearing their teammates and game play clearly and accurately, and leading to a winning advantage.”
Over the next few months, the NBA 2K league will be holding qualifiers and the best 85 players will be brought together to be part of the inaugural NBA 2K draft. Players that get picked by Mavs Gaming will live in team housing in the Dallas area where they will practice together and wear HyperX gaming headsets to enhance their player experiences.
“The NBA and Mavs Gaming are at the forefront of an incredible new venture in eSports and entertainment,” said Dustin Illingworth, HyperX influencer marketing manager. “We’re thrilled to be bringing the Dallas Mavericks and Mavs Gaming into the HyperX family, delivering award-winning sound and comfort to NBA 2K gamers here and abroad.”
