Madden Ultimate League Week 10 – What to Watch

Matt Franciscovich – Madden Ultimate League

Tune in every Saturday to watch the first-ever Madden Ultimate League (MUL) season streaming on various digital channels including Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Mixer. The season culminates with the playoffs and finals from the NFL draft in April, live on ESPN2.

Did you watch the “Inside the EA Sports Madden Ultimate League” docuseries on ESPN2 this past Tuesday? No? Well first, shame on you. But I’ll let it slide because there will be three more episodes each Tuesday night in April leading up to the Madden Bowl! So check your local listings, set the DVR, add it to your streaming library, or head over to the local watering hole and have the barkeep cue it up. I swear, by the end of an episode you’ll be champing at the bit to fire up your console and play some Madden NFL 18.

All right, now that we’ve got some housekeeping out of the way, let’s move on.

Last week, Madden Ultimate League fans were treated to seven one-score games, thrilling finishes, and loads of awesome plays. Michael “Skimbo” Skimbo continued his win streak, Abbot “Blocky” Lopez hit a road block, and Joel “JoelCP” Crooms-Porter did his fair share of trash-talking . . . shocker, I know. At this point every win carries more weight as the Elite Conference regular season is just a handful of matchups away from wrapping – next week (April 14) will be the final stream before the playoffs begin. As always, here are some key storylines to watch out for during this week’s broadcast.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR – WEEK 10

Skimbo is on a five-game win streak — can he keep it going?

During last week’s stream, Skimbo won all three of his matchups, rocketing him to the top of the Division B standings with a 5-2 record. But can you believe Skimbo has yet to score a rushing touchdown through seven Madden Ultimate League games!? Whatever works, I guess. Anyway, Skimbo will play two of the Elite Conference’s current bottom-feeders in the standings, Taylor “Spotmeplzzz” Robertson and Stephen “Noble SteveyJ” Javaruski.

Can Blocky (4-2) defeat Hassan “GOS” Spall (4-3) for the second time this season?

The top two competitors in Division A go head-to-head this weekend, as they duke it out for the top spot in the standings. Blocky defeated GOS by a score of 13-10 a few weeks ago, but GOS has ironed out the early-season kinks on offense. The 2018 Madden Club Champion has been scoring more points lately and is on a three-game win streak. Meanwhile, Blocky has lost his last two games after starting the season 4-0.

Will the Noble esports team bounce back?

Both Michael “Noble Prodigy” Scott (2-4) and Noble SteveyJ (2-4) have slipped to the bottom of the standings. The road ahead is not an easy one, but each competitor has three matchups during this weekend’s upcoming stream to potentially gain some ground. Noble Prodigy faces Shay “Young Kiv” Kivlen, Joel CP, and Blocky. SteveyJ faces off against Blocky, Young Kiv, and Skimbo.

Can Young Kiv single-handedly dismantle the Noble esports duo?

Young Kiv has been scoring a ton of points (26.7 per game, ranks first in Elite Conference) and sits just behind Skimbo atop the Division B leaderboard with a 4-2 record. This weekend, Young Kiv’s two games are against Noble SteveyJ and Noble Prodigy, who both desperately need wins. Watch closely to see if the Seattle native can knock the Noble duo down another rung on the leaderboard.
