This championship is a global e-sports tournament open to users from all around the world. Users can sign up for the event at the World Arena Championship sign-up page on www.summonerswar.com. A European tournament date and venue will be announced soon.
The total prize pool for this tournament series will be USD $100,000, with $50,000 of that prize amount to be won at the World Finals in the United States in November 2017.
Regional preliminary tournaments to select the representatives of each region will be held in a total of nine cities, and a total of 16 players will be selected to advance to the World Finals.
These finalists will be competing in the World Finals scheduled to be held in the United States in November to determine the winner of the 2017 Summoners War World Arena Championship.
The regional tournament for North America (US and Canada) will be held twice, once in Los Angeles and once in New York. Two tournaments will also be held in Seoul, one in August and the other in October. Additionally, tournaments will be held in major cities in Europe, Southeast Asia and Asia, such as Shanghai, Tokyo, Taipei and Hong Kong. Furthermore, regional representatives for the Middle East, South America and Australia will be selected via online tournaments.
Participants will be selected based on the ranking of the real-time 1:1 battle content, “World Arena”, which recently started its second season.
Com2uS will fly in the participants to each regional final, and cover all travel expenses.
Participants as well as users who signed up for the tournament will be given a small gift as a show of gratitude, while regional champions will win prize money, a rare figurine and a trip to the world finals in the United States.
“This championship event is not limited to a specific region but it’s rather a global festival where all users around the world can come together”, said David Mohr, General Manager at GAMEVIL COM2US Europe. “We are very happy to be able to give back to our community by providing an event-series like this, and hope that our players will join us by actively participating in the tournament or by watching and cheering for their favorites on-site and through the various live-streams that will be provided.”
The 2017 Summoners War World Arena Championship announcement comes shortly after the game celebrated its three-year-birthday, while also hitting the significant $1 billion USD lifetime revenue milestone in August.
