Ahead of the inaugural Red Bull The Pit in Germany, we run down what you need to know about this three-on-three Street Fighter clash.

Are you ready for a Street Fighter V tournament like no other? Red Bull The Pit goes down on October 21 and 22 in Cologne, Germany, with a three-on-three format that pits teams against each other in a bid for glory. Will you lead your team to victory?

So far, eight teams from Germany, France, Belgium and other countries have signed up for the tournament, featuring hot talent like Luffy, Problem X, Phenom, Sven the Blind Warrior, MDZ Jimmy, ECV Hiruko and more, and you can join them too: all you have to do is sign up yourself with two team members and you can enter the fray.

Taking place at the Bootshaus in Cologne, two teams of three are set to play each other, and if a player loses a match, he or she is defeated. A team that has no players left loses the set.

At the start of the tournament, there’ll be a group phase using the Round Robin format. The 16 best teams will advance and fight their way into the final Single Elimination Bracket – and to make things interesting, a player needs to stick to a chosen character for the entire duration of the tournament, and a character may only be used by one player per team.

If you want to watch the tournament action live in person, you can just show up from 11am at the Bootshaus for free, while if you can’t make it down, you can tune in online on Twitch to watch the top-16 bracket.
