Call of Duty World League Championship 2017 North America Last Chance Qualifier

With the Call of Duty World League Championship 2017 quickly approaching, North American players have continued to grind after they missed their shot at the CWL Global Pro League, and they now have one last chance to make it to Orlando, Florida.

Thanks to countless GameBattles ladder matches and online tournaments, as well as the CWL Open Events offered throughout the year, these players earned enough Pro Points, and also found the right teammates, to form the top sixteen North American teams in Call of Duty outside of the CWL Global Pro League.

The roster lock for the North American Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) was on July 10, and most of these teams were a part of a GameBattles 2K tournament the day before to test out their teamwork and attempt to better their seeds for this crucial event.

Earning the number one seed of the North America Last Chance Qualifier was the winner of that online tournament, Projekt Evil. This team is loaded with three veterans Ethan “FA5TBALLA’ Wedgeworth, Christopher “ProFeeZy” Astudillo and Jason “Prophet” Nicoletti, but also includes Seth “Glory” Donskey, an 18-year-old wonder whose skill goes beyond his years.

Seeded second for the Last Chance Qualifier is Team Allegiance, a team who defeated Global Pro League competitor Team EnVyUs at the CWL Anaheim Open to secure enough Pro Points to get a top seed for the LCQ. These four players on Allegiance also had success at the CWL Dallas Open, where they placed top-16 after spoiling the event for European teams Epsilon, Fnatic and Elevate.

The third seeded team may not have an organization confirmed yet, but it is packed with some of the best Call of Duty free agents out there today in Cole “ColeChan” Chancey, Anthony “DraMa” Padilla, Steven “Mochilla” Canle, and Michael “Swarley” Carter. Right behind them in seeding is Team Kaliber, ColeChan’s former team that made a solid loser’s bracket run in Anaheim before losing in game five, round 11 to Enigma6.

Rounding out the top ten of the North American Last Chance Qualifier teams are Echo Fox, Str8 Rippin, Lethal Gaming, Pnda Gaming, Rogue and Fury Gaming, proven teams who have all made their own mark on the CWL landscape this season. Recently, Fury Gaming, Rogue, and Lethal Gaming all qualified out of the CWL Anaheim Open Bracket to compete in that event’s Pool Play, with Fury Gaming taking wins over Fnatic and Mindfreak in Pool D.

Five teams seeded in the bottom six spots of the Last Chance Qualifier are without organizations at the time of the roster lock, and each of them have promise with Call of Duty players that are either rising stars or battle-worn veterans of the scene. One of the final teams of the LCQ, seeded at number 15, is Edax Pro, a relatively young organization whose roster is highlighted by a 2011 standout ready to return to glory in Michael “Solo” Lim.
