CROSSFIRE: European Finals at gamescom 2017

Held for the first time by Smilegate Europe, the CROSSFIRE European Tournament finals are to take place over the course of gamescom 2017. The CFS European Finals will comprise semifinals and finals played in Cologne, Germany on August 24th at the ESL Arena in Hall 9 and are being organized together by Smilegate and ESL.

Following the qualifiers, the group stage, and the first stage of the playoffs, four of the top teams from Europe – FlipSid3 Tactics, Serenity Sports, PENTA Sports, and Exotic Esports – will compete to claim the winner’s prize of €10,000 and a slot in the CFS Grand Finals in China.

There will be two semifinals in which each team will play a best-of-three round robin format. The winning teams will go on to play in the best-of-five Grand Final while the losing teams compete for 3rd place.

Distribution of gamescom European Finals prize money:

1st Place: € 10,000 and a slot for the CFS Grand Finals in China
2nd Place: € 6,500
3rd Place: € 2,500
4th Place: € 1,000

Smilegate has been hosting global CROSSFIRE tournaments since 2013. Last March, CROSSFIRE participated in the CROSSFIRE IEM Expo Invitational in Katowice, Poland. Last week, Smilegate hosted another edition of CFS INVITATIONAL in Shanghai, China where two German teams – Flipsid3 Tactics and PENTA Sports – were representing Europe, fighting against the best teams from Brazil, Vietnam, China, and the Philippines. Shortly after the CFS European Finals, PENTA Sports will go back to China to continue playing in the CFPL as a representative of Europe and this coming October, Smilegate will host another edition of CFS INVITATIONAL in Vietnam.
