Square Enix Collective in Collaboration with AMD Goes Big at EGX

With a blockbuster lineup that includes both upcoming titles and established classics, Square Enix Collective is proud to announce it’s heading to EGX in Birmingham later this month with the event’s largest collection of indie games, all powered by AMD’s latest Ryzen™ and Radeon™ processers powering PCs from DELL.

Square Enix Collective’s booth – stand S40, located right near the entrance to the entire event – will feature a total of 10 games spread over a whopping 30-plus pods.

In addition to forthcoming titles such as multiplayer FPS Battalion 1944, 2D cinematic anime adventure Forgotton Anne, and the much-anticipated return for the Fear Effect series with Fear Effect Sedna, gamers at EGX will also get the chance to play already released games from the publisher’s collection.  Attendees will also be able to experience the first-person puzzler The Turing Test, recent psychological thriller Tokyo Dark, and Square Enix Collective’s first ever release, point-and-click adventure Goetia, amongst others top-tier titles.

“The way games are released has changed in recent years and, as such, so should the way we showcase them at events like EGX,” offers Phil Elliott, Director of Indie Development at Square Enix London. “No longer are games done and dusted on the day of release: they evolve, they update, they change. By the same token, our commitment to the games we’ve published goes well beyond launch day.

“It’s an ongoing journey. That’s why we’re proud to line up every project that we’ve signed to-date – with forthcoming titles lining up side-by-side with all those already released. We want to give everyone at EGX the full Square Enix Collective experience, and it’s only right that they get to play all we have to offer.”

“AMD is proud to team with the Square Enix Collective at EGX, as the games on display take full advantage of the new Ryzen 3, 5 & 7 processors, allowing players to experience the games as the developers envisioned, via a range of affordable and powerful desktops that power the full portfolio of the Collective,” said Raymond Dumbeck, Director, OEM Marketing, AMD. “Our collaboration with Square Enix Collective is based on the fact that both of our companies have a shared commitment and passion for indie gaming and we believe in helping developers deliver the best gaming experience possible.”

Reflecting this mix of old and new, EGX 2017 will be the first time gamers will be able to take on vertical action adventure Octahedron since it signed with Square Enix Collective, with the game serving as the latest in what’s fast becoming a long line of quality, diverse indie games.

Making up Square Enix Collective’s EGX line up will be:

  • Throughline Games’ beautiful 2D cinematic anime adventure Forgotton Anne, where players take on the role of Anne as she tries to escape the Forgotton Realm and return to the real world.
  • Fear Effect Sedna from Sushee, the first new game in this legendary series for more than 15 years.
  • Sand Sailor Studio’s head-scratching puzzler Black The Fall, which casts players into a dark and oppressive world ruled by Communism.
  • Recently announced rhythmic puzzle platformer Octahedron from Switzerland-based Demimonde.
  • Multiplayer masterstroke Oh My Godheads, where players fight for control of ancient stone heads in ridiculously fast and frenetic action.
  • Psychological horror Tokyo Dark, which puts a new spin on point-and-click play thanks to a multi-branching story rife with melancholic undertones.
  • World War II FPS Battalion 1944, which tasks players with taking on some gloriously old-school multiplayer mayhem.
  • Bullet-dodging 3D brawler Deadbeat Heroes, which brilliantly taps into all the best tropes from classic 90s beat-em-ups in a 60s superhero parody.
  • First-person puzzler The Turing Test from Bulkhead Interactive.
  • Square Enix Collective’s first ever release, puzzle-orientated point-and-click adventure Goetia.
  • Deck & dice story-driven, single-player tactical RPG Children of Zodiarcs.

AMD and Square Enix also recently joined forces to introduce AMD4U, an innovative new program that offers AMD consumers a range of games from a new generation of cutting edge independent development teams from around the world. This program has been carefully structured between AMD and Square Enix to provide technology and hardware support for up and coming indie developers publishing through the Collective, along with helping bring the games to market through a wide range of partnership elements.

As part of the program, anyone purchasing a qualified AMD-powered PC from a range of OEMs can validate their hardware and receive up to three free games from the Square Enix Collective portfolio, with details available at AMD4U.com.  Titles include previously released games Black the Fall, Children of Zodiac, Deadbeat Heroes, Tokyo Dark, Oh My Godheads, along with the upcoming titles Fear Effect Sedna and Battalion 1944.
