Media Alliance and GINX Esports TV came to an agreement about partnership. Media Alliance will be responsible for GINX channel local feed production, marketing and distribution. GINX will provide round-the-clock HD coverage of major events from the world of esports.
2018 saw the global esports economy grow to an impressive $905.6 million figure, with the global esports audience reaching 380 million, and this number is expected to grow to over 550 million by 2021. Major esports events have record-breaking viewing figures – such as The International, with over 15 million viewers in 2018.
Russia ranks number one in Europe and number 3 worldwide, in terms of esports viewership . Its gamer audience is estimated at 10.2 million, and cumulative viewing time of the most popular game – Dota 2 – exceeded 220 million hours a year. The vast majority of esports fans are Men 16-35, who have grown up with advanced technology, are active web users with varied interests in media and entertainment, tech savvy, regularly using consoles, PCs and mobile phones for videogames, among other things. Even though demand from the audience is high, esports currently has very limited presence on TV locally.
