DreamHack announced the launch of a new tournament series featuring Fortnite. The series — entitled DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite — will kick off in July and consists of monthly online tournaments for the EU, NA East, and NA West Fortnite servers through all of 2020, and will be broadcast live on Twitch. A total of $1.75 million USD will be awarded in 2020 — a prize pool of $250,000 will be up for grabs every month.
“We had a tremendous experience hosting huge open participation Fortnite competitions at DreamHack Winter and DreamHack Anaheim just a few months ago,” said Michael Van Driel, Chief Product Officer at DreamHack, “While we aren’t currently hosting any mass gatherings, we’re very excited to produce what will assuredly be some amazing online events and we look forward to the future.”
A successor of the popular Fortnite community tournaments at DreamHack Winter and DreamHack Anaheim, the DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite tournaments will be community-focused and this time it’s paired with a live, online broadcast via Twitch. Fans can expect professional commentary, as well as high-level, in-game observing produced by DreamHack’s experienced team of professionals.
Fans throughout Europe and North America will be able to participate, the competitions are open for all and not invite based. The kick-off edition will take place on July 17-19 and July 24-26, and following each month until January 2021 will follow a regular schedule on Thursdays and Fridays. Additional information for
