We’re heading into a new season of SMITE esports, and our international players are on the verge of kicking off the all-new SMITE Global Series that we announced a couple months ago. By moving to an open-entry circuit with multiple opportunities to qualify for LAN events alongside NA and EU players, we’re hoping to foster even more competition among international regions and give them extra chances to battle it out against their global competitors.
The first phase of the SMITE Global Series begins this weekend, on March 3. If you’re a player in any of our international regions (SEA, OCE, LatAm, Brazil) and your team wants to compete in the SMITE Global Series, you can do so by signing up for any of our weekly tournaments. In this quick guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know to sign up and participate in the SGS.
SMITE Global Series Format
In Season 5, the SGS will be an open-entry circuit that’s broken up into phases, and each phase will last four weeks. In the first three weeks, teams will have the opportunity to qualify for the phase finals in Week 4. A total of 8 teams will qualify across the first three weeks of each phase. These qualifying weeks and the finals week of each phase will play out as follows:
- Week 1: Single Elimination Open Bracket
- Top four teams will advance to the phase finals as Seeds 1, 2, 3, and 4.
- Week 2-3: Single Elimination Open Bracket
- The top two teams from Week 2 will qualify for phase finals as Seeds 5 and 6.
- The top two teams from Week 3 will qualify for phase finals as Seeds 7 and 8.
- Week 4: Single Elimination Monthly Finals
- The top 8 teams who qualified via the open brackets in the previous three weeks will face off in a single-elimination finals round with the opportunity to win prizing.
Each region in the SMITE Global Series will follow a different play schedule for their weekly tournaments. each international region will play their SGS matches on the following days and times:
- Oceania — Saturdays @ 11:00 AM AEDT
- Southeast Asia — Sundays @ 11:00 AM SGT
- Brazil — Sundays @ 11:00 AM GMT-3
- LatAm North — Sundays @ 11:00 AM GMT-5
- LatAm South — Sundays @ 11:00 AM GMT-5
How to Participate in the SMITE Global Series
If you want to participate in any week or phase of the SGS, you’re welcome to sign up for the open-bracket tournaments in your region. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of everything you need to know.
Step 1: Register Through the ESL Hub
Because we’re partnering with ESL for the SMITE Global Series, you’ll be able to use the ESL tournament hub to sign up for all SGS tournaments. There is a dedicated registration portal for each region. Click the links below to access your region’s information:
When you visit your region’s page, you’ll see instructions for how to register with ESL, sign up for your tournament of choice, and check in to play when your tournament starts.
Step 2: Sign Up for Your Region’s Tournament
After you’ve registered on the ESL website for your region, you’ll be able to view all upcoming tournaments in the SMITE Global Series. Just choose which game you’d like to participate it, then sign up for that tournament!
Step 3: Check In for Your Region’s Tournament
Once you’ve registered on the ESL site and signed up for your tournament, you’ll need to check in on the actual day that your tournament begins. To check in, you’ll need to visit the tournament info page for the open bracket that you signed up for.
On that page, you’ll see a check-in option in the right sidebar. When the check-ins for your tournament are opened, the “Check In” button will turn blue. Click that button to confirm that your team will be participating in the tournament!
The check-in option should go live an hour or so before your tournament begins. To make sure that you and your team don’t miss the check-in time, make sure that you’re standing by and waiting for check-ins at the following times:
- Oceania — Saturday @ 10:00 AM AEDT
- Southeast Asia — Saturday @ 10:00 AM SGT
- Brazil — Sunday @ 10: 00 AM GMT-3
- Latam North — Sunday @ 10:00 AM GMT-5
- Latam South — Sunday @ 10:00 AM GMT-5
Once you’ve checked in your team for the tournament, you’ll receive further direction from the ESL site and its administrators on the next steps to take to get your games started.
Step 3: Play!
After you’ve checked in, your ESL tournament administrator will handle the rest! These admins will be directing you toward Discord channels that you’ll use throughout your games, and they’ll also give you the rundown on all tournament rules and the bracket that you’ll be playing.
In all weeks of the SMITE Global Series, the tournaments will run as a single-elimination open bracket. All games will be best-of-ones until the semifinals and finals, which will be best of three.
SMITE Global Series FAQ
Can I compete in the SMITE Global Series if I am a console player?
No, the SCS is currently only open to PC players. However, Xbox players in the NA or EU regions can participate in our Console Series. Find more info on that in our SMITE Console Series participation guide.
Are there any account requirements for competing in the SMITE Global Series?
There are no level requirements for participating in the SGS. However, you must have an account that is in good standing and be on a team of at least 5 members to participate.
I missed the check-in time! Can I still play in the tournament?
Unfortunately, no. If you or your team misses the registration period, you cannot participate in that week of the SGS. But you are still welcome to sign up for subsequent weeks if you show up on time!
