Magic: The Gathering’s Latest Set, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths

Wizards of the Coast is pleased to announce the release of the latest card set for Magic: The Gathering, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, available today for digital play in the Magic: The Gathering Arena. The set also releases for physical play on May 15th and aims to bring players to the new plane of Ikoria, dominated by gargantuan beasts.

Ikoria also brings Godzilla, The King of Monsters, as it makes its debut in Magic: The Gathering alongside other favorite monsters from the Godzilla franchise. A total of 16 Godzilla series cards will be available in the Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths card set, and how to best collect them can be seen here.

As announced in April’s State of the Game blog post, this release also brings two new and highly-anticipated game Player Draft modes to Magic: The Gathering Arena. Starting with the release of Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths anyone will be able to join a virtual table to be paired with seven other players and start a game of the hugely popular Draft format in the most table-accurate way yet.

Ikoria brings back some known mechanics, like fan-favorite Cycling, and introduces new ones, such as Mutate, which lets players combine their creatures to create better ones, and Companion, which celebrates the bond between creature and player, allowing for more powerful decks to be constructed.  Discover more about the new mechanics in Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths here.
