Garena revealed that while the play-in stage will still take place on May 22, the grand finals will be pushed from May 27 to May 30 in order to guarantee the players’ health and safety. The event is expected to host 18 global teams from 11 regions battling for portions of the $2 million prize pool.
Nine teams will be competing in Play-ins for three spots in the Finals, which will join the tournament’s top 9 seeds for a chance to become the FFWS 2021 SG champions. Since teams from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan were unable to visit Singapore due to travel restrictions, they will be awarded with a share of the prize pool to “recognize the teams’ efforts and achievement in qualifying for the World Series.”
